Evans syndrome is very rare, It is an autoimmune
disorder in which a person’s antibodies attack and destroy the red blood
cells, platelets and white blood cells. Tests may show low levels of
all three blood cells’ types or it could reveal low levels of two or
just one. The symptoms of the disease depend on the affected and low
levels of blood cells type. For example, low levels of red blood cells
would cause different symptoms than white blood cells.
The cause of the disease is not known and no genetic link has been found. It is thought that there could be many possible reasons.
It is easily understood that there are different treatments and not just one cure. Different drugs may be used to suppress the immune system and avoid bad antibodies attack. A patient may receive intravenous immune globulin. Some patients may under go splenectomy but the results turned out to be short-lived while others may be getting blood transfusion.
The problem with Evans syndrome is that it leaves patients at more risk of developing other auto-immune disorders like as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis as well as various malignancies.
